The motion of his hand was fluid and rhythmic. The sheer repetition of the mechanical action dulled his senses, numbing his mind till he felt nothing at all. There were only him and the tool. Nothing else mattered.

He stopped, slightly startled when his mother approached his desk. She stared at the paper cup, crushed by him just half an hour back, overflowing with removed stapler pins. “Yes!!! Well done!!” she said triumphantly as she hugged her now calm son. The trick had worked!!! She was certain that with love and patience, together they would overcome his issues with temper.
